BAYAHIBE
Bayahibe is the iconic Caribbean paradise located on the southeast coast of the Dominican Republic. Here the picture postcard comes to life, with white sands, clear sea, a palm-tree fringed beach and colorful wooden boats bobbing up and down in the water.
The water in Bayahibe is calm and crystal clear. A variety of diving excursions are available, ranging from cave dives and shark dives to an exploration of the coral reef ecosystem located off Catalina Island. There are a handful of dive schools in the village, and most cater to all skill and experience levels.
The town retains its Dominican flavor, from its local restaurants and dive bars to its street craft stalls and fishermen who bring in fish every day. Aside from its coastal life, Bayahibe's streets are full of history and architecture, with pastel-colored wooden houses, iconic churches and mysterious Taino caves and springs within the Cotubanamá National Park.
Go swimming with sharks and stingrays, book an excursion to the gorgeous Saona Island, take a sunset cruise on a catamaran or simply enjoy the laid-back pace of life when you’re back on dry land by dining in the open-air seafood restaurant.
